ARIAGO is the name representing the Arias Gómez family coffee. Their history around coffee dates back to 1930 when a family ancestor named Don Luis Angel Gomez Gomez moved to Quindio, Colombia seeking for opportunities in this unexplored region where nowadays ARIAGO coffee is produced. Recognizing the potential to build a better life, Don Luis invited many family members to join him. Among them was Mrs. Adelina, a brave and visionary woman that pictured their family living off of coffee production and played an essential role in getting the project off the ground. Coffee production soon became an important part of the family and is now under the management of their third generation and vision of Sandra Arias Gomez, our farmer partner who makes it possible for AICA to bring their selection of specialty coffees to the USA.
LOS ALAMOS farm is located in Quindio, Colombia, a region that is considered a world heritage according to UNESCO. The farm was purchased by Maria Teresa Gómez Gómez (the daughter of Adelina) and Rafael Arias Sánchez (known today as Grandpa Rafa). Los Alamos is located 5,000 feet above sea level in a town called Circasia and features a colorful mountainous environment with fertile volcanic soil. Grandpa Rafa still lives there, day by day transferring his knowledge to younger family members.
